Late-century construction, and the equipment that came with it
Most of Archdale was built between the 1960s and the 1990s, and it shows: single-storey ranch homes, crawl-space foundations, copper or early plastic supply lines, and heat pumps rather than boilers. There is very little of the century-old plumbing that dominates our Greensboro and Winston-Salem work.
What that produces is a maintenance-and-replacement pattern rather than a rescue pattern. Heat pumps installed in the nineties are now well past expected life; the copper is generally sound but the fittings and shutoff valves are not; and water heaters that were adequate for a family of three are now serving four with a hot tub.
Crawl spaces matter here more than most places. A slow leak under an Archdale ranch can run for a long time before anything shows inside the house, so we check the crawl on most calls whether or not that is what we were called for. It costs us ten minutes and it has saved a lot of subfloor.

Why do you look in the crawl space when I called about a faucet?
Because a leak under a crawl-space ranch can run for months without showing indoors, and it is the cheapest ten minutes of the visit. If everything is dry we tell you so and move on.
Is a heat pump the right choice for Archdale?
For most homes here, yes. Our winters sit in the range where heat pumps are efficient, and you get cooling from the same equipment. Where a home has particular issues we will discuss alternatives rather than fitting like-for-like by default.
Do you serve Archdale as often as High Point?
Effectively, yes. It is ten minutes down the road, we are there most weeks, and there is no travel charge.
