The plumber High Point has called since 1947

This is not a service area for us, it is home. Four generations of Buchanans have worked out of High Point, and a good share of our calls come from houses we have already been inside once or twice.

Seventy-five years of High Point houses, and we have been in most kinds

High Point grew around the furniture trade, and its housing tells that story block by block. Emerywood has the grand 1920s and 1930s houses — deep plumbing runs, cast-iron waste stacks, and in a number of them the original boiler and radiator heat still doing its job. Those systems are repairable, and we would rather repair them than talk you into ripping them out.

Closer to Uptowne and the older streets near Main, we see a lot of mid-century construction where galvanized supply lines are now well past their service life. The tell is usually pressure: fine in one fixture, poor when two run at once. Around Oak Hollow Lake and the newer developments toward Jamestown, it is a different job entirely — heat pumps, PEX, and equipment that needs maintenance rather than rescue.

The furniture market weeks put a particular kind of pressure on the calendar here. Showrooms, rental properties and guest houses all need to be right before buyers arrive, and a leak the week before Market is not something that can wait. Being based here means we can usually get to it.

What High Point homeowners actually call us about

Our three most common High Point calls, in the order we get them:

Old galvanized supply lines

Falling pressure and rusty hot water in mid-century homes. We repair sections or repipe, depending on how far gone the run is.

Plumbing →
Boilers and radiators

Emerywood and the older streets still run hot-water heat. We service and repair them rather than pushing a changeout.

Heating & Boilers →
Cast-iron drain lines

Scale buildup and cracked joints in older waste stacks, which is why the same drain keeps backing up.

Drain & Sewer →

High Point questions

Are you actually based in High Point?

Yes. Buchanan Service Company was founded here in 1947 and has operated from High Point ever since. It is the reason we can often be at a High Point address faster than companies dispatching from out of town.

Can you work on the older homes in Emerywood?

That is some of our favourite work. Those houses have boilers, radiators, cast iron and original fixtures, and they need someone who has seen the systems before. We repair what is repairable and are straight with you when something has genuinely reached the end.

Do you handle rental and commercial property in High Point?

We do a great deal of work for local landlords and property owners, including turnover repairs and pre-Market deadlines. Call and tell us the timeline you are working against.
