What we fix

Everyday repairs and the jobs nobody wants to tackle twice

Most of our work is unglamorous and urgent: something is leaking, something will not drain, or something quit working right before company arrives. We carry common parts on the truck so the majority of calls are finished in a single visit.

When a small plumbing problem is telling you something bigger

Plumbing rarely fails without warning. These are the signals worth a phone call before they turn into drywall repair:

A water bill that jumped with no change in how you use water — usually a running toilet or a hidden leak.
Stains or soft spots on a ceiling, wall or floor, especially under a bathroom.
Pressure that drops when a second tap opens, which often points to corroded supply piping.
Rusty or discolored water from the hot side, a common sign of an aging water heater or galvanized pipe.
A faucet that drips again days after you tightened it — the seat or cartridge is worn, not loose.
Sewer odor near a floor drain or in a rarely used bathroom, which can mean a dry trap or a venting problem.

If a pipe has actually burst, shut off the main and call us — we answer emergency calls around the clock, and getting the water off fast is what limits the damage.

What to expect

How the visit actually goes

1
We look first

You show us what is happening. We confirm the real cause instead of guessing at the symptom.

2
You get a price

A firm number before any work starts. If there are two ways to solve it, you hear both.

3
We do the work

Drop cloths down, shoes respected. Most repairs are finished the same visit.

4
We prove it works

We test the repair with you, clean up completely, and explain what we did.

How pricing works

We quote the job, not the hour, so the number you approve is the number you pay. You will hear the price before we pick up a tool, and if we find something unexpected behind a wall we stop and talk to you rather than run up the bill.

Questions

Plumbing questions we hear every week

Do you charge to come out and look?

We give you a clear diagnostic and repair price before any work begins, and we will always tell you the fee situation for your specific call when you book, so there is no guessing when we arrive.

Can you fix it the same day?

Usually, yes. We stock common valves, cartridges, supply lines and fittings on the truck, so most standard repairs are completed on the first visit. Parts for older or specialty fixtures may take an extra day to source.

Do you work on older High Point and Greensboro homes?

Constantly. Much of our work is in established neighborhoods with galvanized steel, cast iron or polybutylene piping. We know how those systems fail and how to repair or repipe them without tearing your house apart.

What if the leak is inside a wall or under the slab?

We locate it before we open anything, using pressure testing and electronic leak detection so the access hole is as small as possible. See our leak detection page for how that works.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Buchanan Service Company is a licensed and insured North Carolina plumbing and HVAC contractor, and has been family owned and operated since 1947.
